Country music star Morgan Wallen appeared in court on Thursday afternoon and entered a plea of guilty in his disorderly conduct case from earlier this year, in which Tennessee cops arrested and charged the singer with multiple felonies after he threw a chair off the rooftop of a Nashville bar, with it landing on Broadway near two police officers.
Wallen, 31, was handed a sentence of 11 months and 29 days “all suspended except seven days incarceration,” according to Judge Ana Escobar. The singer pleaded “conditionally guilty” to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment after acknowledging the charges against him and was ordered to serve his seven day sentence at a “DUI education center,” according to Escobar.
“Substantially, yes,” Wallen told the judge after being asked if the allegations against him were true.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department booked Wallen on three counts of felony reckless endangerment and a single count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct following his arrest in April. Cops claimed Wallen tossed a chair from the roof of Chief’s Bar on Broadway, with it falling six stories to the ground below and landing near two officers.
Investigators said they interviewed staff at Chief’s and also reviewed video from the incident, which showed Wallen “lunging” before he sent the chair flying over the side of the roof. Witnesses said Wallen could be seen laughing afterward.
The “Last Night” singer is reportedly no stranger to controversy, with TMZ publishing video of him in 2021 appearing inebriated and using a racial slur. A year before that, he was arrested at Kid Rock’s Nashville watering hole on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, according to local ABC affiliate WKRN.
It’s unclear what detention center Wallen will serve out his sentence. Attempts by Law&Crime to reach his press team were unsuccessful Thursday.
