Officers in Florida shot and killed a man who allegedly murdered and dismembered his roommate and then came outside with a knife in one hand and a body part in the other.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Fort Myers. Cops responded to a home in the area of Grand Avenue and Waltman Street where they found a woman and two small children hiding in the carport, according to a press release. She said her husband, 33-year-old Willy Lumaine, was “actively killing their roommate” inside a home nearby.
When officers went to the home they saw “an open door and blood trail,” cops said. They established a perimeter and yelled for anyone inside to come out. Lumaine allegedly approached a back window and busted it out with a large knife.
“As Officers were giving verbal commands for the male to drop the knife, he climbed out of the window holding the knife in one hand and what appeared to be a dismembered body part in the other,” the press release said.
It didn’t specify what body part he was holding.
Cops opened fire when Lumaine allegedly ignored commands and refused to drop the knife, striking him. Officers began giving him medical aid but paramedics pronounced him dead on scene.

Police went inside the home where it was “evident that a violent attack had occurred.” Cops found the roommate, who has not been publicly identified, dead. The body had been “mutilated and dismembered” with parts found inside and outside of the home, the press release said. It did not give a cause of death nor give a motive for the murder.
Neighbors described hearing a volley of shots.
“The only thing I heard was six gunshots. It was about 11, 11:30 p.m.,” Caesar Martinez told local CBS affiliate WINK.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the officer shooting and the cops who fired their weapons will be placed on administrative leave as is agency protocol.
