Cops in Florida arrested a man for the murders of two people in Maryland, including the mother of his children, authorities say.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that deputies responded to a shooting around 7 a.m. on Aug. 25 at a home in the 7000 Block of Mandalong Ct. in New Market. Detectives found two people dead: 33-year-old Crimea Malita Baker and 34-year-old Sean Antoine Lange. There were also four children — all under the age of 13 — in the home unharmed. The kids told deputies they hid in a closet after hearing gunshots. One of the kids came out when they felt it was safe and found the bodies in a bedroom and called for help.
After a month of investigating, cops identified David Phillip Turner, 33, of Miami, as a suspect. Turner was previously in a relationship with Baker and is father to three of the kids who were in the home at the time of the murders, cops said. Baker and Lange were currently dating and lived together in the home with the children. He was the father of one of the kids, per deputies. Baker, who was originally from the Chicago area, was the mother to all four kids.
Turner allegedly drove from Florida to Maryland, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and murdered Baker and Lange around 1:25 a.m. on Aug. 25 in an upstairs bedroom. Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins told reporters that the suspect fired over 40 shots. He said the murders “shock the conscience.”
“This was a heinous, targeted double murder — a crime of rage and anger,” he said.
Cops in Florida, including the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and FBI, arrested Turner around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. He is currently being held at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Jail awaiting extradition back to Maryland.
He’s facing charges of first-degree murder, home invasion and two counts of use of a firearm in a crime of violence or felony.
