A Kentucky man accused of dodging child support for a decade was arrested after getting off a cruise ship in Miami.
Dominic Weaver, 47, was allegedly on the run for 10 years after racking up six figures in child support payments. According to Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell, he has paid “not one cent” and fled his jurisdiction — before he was found by detectives from the county’s Child Support Division. With the assistance of Miami police, Weaver was located and arrested as he left a cruise ship that docked in the Sunshine State, marking the end of his holiday vacation.
O’Connell told Louisville Fox affiliate WDRB that Weaver’s was one of the most “egregious” child support cases. The alleged deadbeat dad has four child support cases against him, O’Connell said, adding, “Two more of those are ready for indictment again of more felonies.”

Weaver allegedly owes between $114,000 and $120,000. Back in 2019, his name was featured on a list of parents who were skipping out on child support payments. At that point, he owed more than $91,000. By 2021, he owed more than $99,000.
O’Connell stated that he was going to try to have Weaver’s original sentence revoked and resentence him to four years in the state penitentiary. Back in 2019, he was sentenced to five years probation after being convicted of flagrant nonsupport.
Weaver was transferred from Miami to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. His next court date is set for Jan. 6.
